Apartment in Testaccio (6 nights minimum)

Testaccio district is one of the most ancient and characteristic neighborhood of all Rome. Close to all most famous monuments and touristic places you can still today breath a typical roman and popular atmosphere. A sort of small village where all is unchanged, customs, the saint's day (in december & march), habits...

The name "Testaccio" cames from the little mountain called "Monte Testaccio", an artificial hill built by the ancient romans between the II and III century A.C. using the fragments of the broken amphoras (in latin “testae” and then Testaccio) used to transport goods from Africa and from the Betica (the old roman province today called Andalucia). Here in Testaccio was, infact, the most important river harbour of the ancient Rome.

The greater part of roman's night life takes place here. Many pubs and bars are dug from the artificial hill and today you can still see on the walls the fragments of that ancient amphoras.
